What the fee covers

  • The letter is drafted from the firm’s template using the facts you give us: who owes you, how much, what for and since when.
  • A licensed legal practitioner reviews and signs it on firm letterhead before it goes anywhere.
  • You read the draft before you pay.
  • Follow-ups go out on Day 7 and Day 14 of the response period.

What happens after the letter

In Lagos, the debtor has 14 days to respond to a Letter of Demand. If the debt is still unpaid, a claim of up to ₦5,000,000 can be filed at the Small Claims Court, where the filing fee is set by the court. If the court gives judgment and the debtor still does not pay, the judgment can be enforced.

Common questions

How much does a Letter of Demand cost in Nigeria with Pandas LP?

₦10,000 for a Letter of Demand reviewed and signed by a licensed legal practitioner, which you serve yourself, or ₦25,000 if Pandas LP serves it on the debtor for you. The Day 7 and Day 14 follow-ups are included in both.

Is the fee per letter?

Yes. Each debtor gets their own letter, so the fee applies per letter. Lenders and businesses with many accounts can use a prepaid wallet instead, with each piece of work deducted at the same fixed fees.

Do I pay before I see the letter?

No. You read the draft before you pay, and nothing is sent until a licensed practitioner has reviewed and signed it.

What does it cost if the debtor ignores the letter?

The next step is usually a claim at the Small Claims Court. The filing fee is set by the court and assessed at the registry based on the amount claimed, and it is paid to the court, not to us.

Why use a lawyer-signed letter rather than writing my own?

A Letter of Demand is the formal demand that a Small Claims claim starts from, so it needs the right parties, the exact amount, a clear deadline and the consequence of not paying. A letter on firm letterhead, signed by a licensed practitioner, also shows the debtor that a lawyer is involved.
