Where the AI Stops and a Lawyer Starts: How Pandas LP's Agent Actually Works
Reviewed by Adebayo Sobayo & Adeyemo Adedeji, Legal Practitioner
"How much of this is actually AI, and how much is a real lawyer?" is a fair question to ask before trusting a service with a debt recovery matter or a property transaction. Here's the honest, specific answer.
The same four steps, every time
Every Pandas LP agent follows the same shape, whether the matter is a debt recovery claim or a property instrument:
- Interview. You describe your situation in ordinary language — no legal vocabulary required, no form to fill in cold.
- Draft. The agent works out which document the situation actually calls for and drafts it from the firm's own templates for that instrument, not from a blank page.
- Review and sign. A licensed Nigerian legal practitioner reviews the draft and signs it. Nothing reaches a debtor, a tenant, or a court unsigned.
- Serve or file. Depending on what you've chosen, the firm serves the document, follows up on the statutory schedule, and files at court if the matter escalates.
The AI does the drafting and the organising. The signature — the point where an actual lawyer stands behind the document — is never automated.
What each agent will not do
Both agents publish their limits in full, because the refusals say more about whether to trust the system than the capabilities do:
- The Debt Recovery Agent's limits — it won't take a claim above the Small Claims threshold, invent legal authority, predict your odds, or claim to represent you in court.
- The Property Law Agent's limits — it won't advise self-help eviction, invent a Certificate of Occupancy or plot number you haven't supplied, freehand an instrument outside the nine it actually covers, or draft around a contested or litigated matter.
Why this matters more than the marketing usually says
A system that claims to do everything a lawyer does, end to end, without a lawyer in the loop, is either overselling itself or quietly taking on legal risk it hasn't disclosed. Pandas LP's approach is the opposite: the agent handles the part that's genuinely mechanical — turning a plain-language description into a properly structured, correctly worded document — and hands the part that requires actual legal judgment to an actual lawyer, every time, before anything is served or filed.
What this looks like from your side
You describe your situation once, in your own words. You see the drafted document before anything happens with it. A licensed practitioner has reviewed and signed it by the time it's served or filed. And if your matter turns out to be more complicated than the agent is built to handle — disputed liability, contested ownership, live litigation — you're told that plainly, rather than being handed a document that pretends the complication doesn't exist.
Start with Debt Recovery or Property Law to see it in practice.
